Reflection Dia de los Muertos began in Mexico. Its direct translation is Day of the Dead. It is two days dedicated to celebrating the dead, and to honor them. Years ago, it lasted an entire month, but they have shortened it to November 1st and 2nd. It is celebrated by dancing, parties, eating, and making altars. It is normally celebrated in Mexico and Spanish countries, but is also celebrated in the U.S. In these two days, families get together and set out ofrendas (alters). This is where you put their favorite things and candles and flowers. On my ofrenda, I chose to celebrate my aunt Rachel. She died this year from cancer, and I thought it was right to honor her on these lovely days. The process of finding out what Rachel really like to do was like being able to finally come to terms with it. I got to remember her and love her. It was so hard to find the right pictures of her, because I wanted to use them all. It was very refreshing to remember her. I loved the actual exhibition, too. It was very fun. I got to laugh with my friends and tell other people about Rachel. I will never forget this experience.
